Take part in the national demonstration against the policy of the federal government on Tuesday 14 October 2025: things have to change!

ABVV, ACV and ACLVB jointly announce a national manifestation on October 14th in Brussels.
We count on your presence to send a strong signal to the Arizona government led by Prime Minister De Wever.

Why do we take to the streets?
This government's summer agreement makes firewood of our social security, our rights, our purchasing power and our future. While there are extra resources for drones and fighter planes, our social achievements are being demolished.

Our demands are clear:

  • Fair pensions for all – down with the Jambonmalus!
  • Solid work instead of crap contracts
  • More purchasing power, quality public services and hands off the index
  • A tax system in which the very richest contribute more
  • Respect for fundamental rights, including trade union rights

Practical arrangements:

  • See you on October 14th from 10 am at Brussels-North train station
  • Route: Brussels-North → Brussels-Central → Brussels-South
  • Speeches by trade unions and civil society
  • Departure demonstration: around 10.45 am
  • Transportation there and back is done by train

Strike compensation

There is a strike notice for all staff members at Ghent University in order to give everyone the opportunity to participate in this national manifestation.

Members of ACOD who are on strike can apply for strike compensation if Ghent University has withheld your wages for that day. To do this, you can send us by e-mail to ACOD@UGent.be the payslip on which the deduction of wages due to strike is charged. The strike compensation for a full day of loss of wages is 40 euros.

Train transport

Members of ACOD and ABVV can use the train transport organised by our trade union umbrella organisation. For this you have to register in advance. You can do this by filling in the form that you can find via this link

  • After registration you will receive an email with a digital ticket (QR-code). Have it scanned during the manifestation by employees of ABVV East Flanders or your regional secretaries.
    • Note: this QR code is not your train ticket but is used to allocate the lunch allowance to the members who actually participated in the demonstration.
  • Your train ticket is on your identity card – Don't forget to bring this one! Your data will be passed on to the railway company SNCB for this purpose.
  • Are you unable to join the manifestation after registration? Notify before 13/10 – 10 am via bert.piessens@abvv.be, so your ticket can still be nullified. Once bought, the ticket can no longer be nullified or passed on to someone else.

Train schedule & reception per station:
