On Friday December 16th 2022 the three trade union federations ABVV, ACLVB and ACV take the streets to underline a number of current and pressing demands, a.o. the demand for a freeze of the energy prices, and the necessity to maintain the almost unique Belgian automatic wage adjustment system that follows the price inflation. In the leaflet (Dutch only) in attachment below this article these topics are treated in some more detail.
ACOD too participates in this national manifestation to protect the purchasing power of either one of us. We call on everyone to join us and to march together in this manifestation to let our voices be heard!
Where and when?
The manifestation departs at 10 a.m. at the train station Brussel North.
Before the start of the manifestation ACOD willc convene at the Finance tower (FINTO) in the Pachecolaan in Brussels. From there the public service workers will march together in one formation and will join the general manifestation when it passes by the the FINTO-tower.
Are going to Brussel from Ghent? ACOD UGent will meet from 8.30 a.m. on at the station Gent Sint-Pieters. Please let us know if you want to join! You can send us an e-mail to ACOD@UGent.be
Travel by train
You can register through this link (deadline Wednesday noon December 14th at 12 a.m.) and then come and get your train ticket on Friday morning at one of the five train stations in East Flanders where the trade unions will have a reception desk (you can chose the station on the online form).
If you start your travel from a different train station, or you could not register in time, you can buy a train ticket. Presenting the ticket, mentioning your name, national number, and bank account number, you will be able to get a refund afterwards by contacting email@example.com (put ACOD@UGent.be in cc)
The opening hours of the reception desk as well as the departure hour of the train can be found in the train schedule below this article. (This documment is Dutch only but the schedule is quite straightforward. Do not hesitate to contact ACOD@UGent.be in case of questions or problems.)
Can I go on strike on Friday 16th 2022?
A strike notice has been given in order to enable everyone to join us in the manifestation. If you strike on Friday December 16th then you are covered by this notice. The only thing UGent can do is deducting your wages for that day.
If you are a member of ACOD then you can deliver us your payslip of that month where the wages are deducted. You will then receive a strike compensation (40 euro for a full day of wage loss).
Remember: you are not obliged to give a formal notification that you will be on strike on that day. However it might be useful to inform your direct colleagues in advance that you will not be at work that day.
