On Friday February 1st 2019 the board of governors has approved the new regulations for scientific staff. At the same time the modification of the regulations of the pension plan has been approved so that all members of scientific staff with a labour contract at UGent will from now on acquire rights for a supplementary pension.
Please note: on Tuesday March 26th the board of governors has approved some additional amendments to these new regulations for scientific staff. These changes have now been added on the pages mentioned below.
We would like to give an explanation on the details of this new policy for scientific staff.
We focus on the labour conditions and career perspectives of the different categories of scientific staff (= “wetenschappelijk personeel” or “WP”) within the new policy:
- WP group 1: obtaining a doctoral title
- WP group 2: advancing the postdoctoral career
- WP group 3: all other members of scientific staff with a labour contract, not belonging to WP group 1 or WP group 2
- Exceptional temporary employment as contractual member of scientific staff
Besides we also give further information concerning the details for the conversion of the employment of the current members of scientific staff to this new policy which will be implemented on April 1st 2019.
